Bandana Dress
I've been wanting to teach myself how to sew for years now. About a year ago, I bought myself a sewing machine. I attempted to thread it a few times and then it sat around to collect dust. Finally, a few months ago I pulled it back out and finally figured out how to thread it. I made a pillow for the rocking chair in Kat's room and then pushed it aside...where it again began to collect dust. I pulled it out again today to attempt to make something again. So for my second attempt at sewing, I decided to try to make a bandana dress because it looked pretty simple. I still have a lot to learn about sewing, but I think it's pretty cute for being one of the first things I've ever made. I hope that this will fit Kat this summer.

Kitty Baby Mobile
So, I've been told that I am a little too obsessed with cats. I guess it's no secret that I love my four legged babies. You have probably also guessed that if was living alone, I probably would be the crazy cat lady. =)
Anyway, since I am decorating Katherine's room with kittens, I needed a cat baby mobile. These are actually very hard to come across. I have searched and searched the internet looking for these. I found probably a total of two. And I wasn't really "in love" with the either one of them. This is when I decided to make something of my own!
I started with two wooden dowels. I sowed pink felt around the dowels and then attached them. I then made myself 4 of what I have been calling my mini-kitties. I used colors that I had already been using in Kat's room. I also used yellow and green yarn, which were not colors in the room, but they went well with project. I made some flowers as the center of the mobile for something else for her to look up at. I then made itty-bitty flowers to come down off the chains the cats were hanging from.
I actually had everything that I used to make this, so I paid absolutely nothing for her mobile! It did take me around 10 hours total to make this, but I think it was well worth it. The picture just doesn't do it justice. I think this is my favorite thing that I have ever made!

Kitties!
I made these kitties this week! I found a very simple crochet pattern and made it. Then I started wondering what the pattern would look like if I only did half of the amount of stitches that it said to do. I am very pleased with the result and am now addicted to making my mini-kitties. Below is a close up of one of my mini-kitties. I have a big project that I am working on where I am going to use these mini-kitties. So check back in a few days to see that! Sometime in the near future, I'm going to try a few other things with these kitties and I even plan on making a bigger kitty by doubling the pattern.

Wall Letters
I love the little wood letters that people hang on their baby's wall that spell out the baby's name. I priced these wood letters at Walmart. They are almost $4 each. That doesn't sound like such a bad price. But if you factor in the fact that I would need 9 letters and would still have to buy the paint, that is a lot of money. So I decided to get creative! I tested out a few different ideas and with my husband's help, this is what I finally decided on. I spent less than half the amount I would have spent on the wood blocks and I actually like it a lot more. I would have spent even less than I did if I wouldn't have been so stuck on the idea that I wanted to use those 3 colors. Only a few pieces of each color come in a pack of foam, so I ended up having to buy 3 packs in order to have enough for her name. It still ended up being much cheaper and I have lots of left over foam to do other things with.

Granny Square Baby Blanket
I taught myself how to make a granny square. I got the bright idea afterwards to keep going and not stop. So eventually I would end up with a huge blanket. Well, if you've learned anything about me yet, I am not very good at completing really big projects. So this blanket ended up with all my other unfinished products. I recently started cleaning out the room that had all my crafty stuff in it because it's going to be my little girl's room. I began looking through my crate of unfinished projects and came across this. When I saw it, I thought why don't I just finish it off where I ended it and it would be the perfect size for a baby blanket. I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture or not, but I used 3 different colors - turquoise, off white, and pale yellow. I did two times around with each color. I am very pleased with that decision and I think it looks great this size.

Foam Picture Frames
I want my little girl's room to be decorated in kittens and puppies. Believe it or not, there aren't a lot of things for a nursery that have kittens or puppies on them. I don't really see this a problem since I love crafts anyway. I decided since my theme is kittens and puppies, I should go ahead and put some pictures of our cats and dogs on the wall too. These are super easy to make. First I printed off a 3.5 x 5 in. picture of Shadow. Then I glued it to a piece of black foam that I cut to the same exact size of the picture. Next I glued pink foam that I had pre-cut to the size I wanted to fit around the picture. I then measured out to where I could center her name and wrote that one with a Sharpie pen. I added the little flower with a glittery center for a girly touch since this is a little girl's room. I just printed off a flower template off the internet and traced it on my foam before cutting it out. Finally, I finished it all off with a few paw print stickers. I've made 2 of these frames so far, so I have a few more to make until I have all our furry babies completed. I plan on posting a picture of the wall after I have completed all of them. I've held this up to the wall to see what it's going to look like and it looks really good in front of the purple wall.

Scratch Mittens
My husband and I found out 2 weeks ago that we are having a little girl. I have so many things I plan to make and am wondering where I'm going to get the time to make it all. So far I have made her a few hats and these scratch mittens. I made these mittens from a pattern that I found at crochetpatterncentral.com. They have tons of free patterns. Although I enjoy to make a lot of things on my own, if I want to work from a pattern, that is usually where I will find it.
Maternity Skeleton Shirt
My boss told me about these maternity shirts a few weeks ago. I went online to order one, but was a little worried about the sizes. See, I'm a little "fluffy" and refuse to wear shirts that are close fitted. I did a little research and found a way that I can make one myself and was able to save almost $20 as well. I'm quite proud of the way it turned out.
I learned how to make it from this blog: http://keepingmycents.blogspot.com/2010/10/halloween-skeleton-and-fetus-maternity.html

Baby Socks
I made these for the same friend I made the baby blanket for. They turned out quite a bit bigger than I had hoped, so they are way too big for a newborn. But I have a feeling he will be wearing them before his first year is over. I went by a pattern when I made these. The pattern was a little difficult to understand at first, but I figured it out and enjoyed the challenge. I love these and I will definitely be making my baby quite a few pairs!
Easy Baby Blanket
A friend of mine had a baby 3 weeks ago. I made her new little boy a few different things. One of the things I made was a baby blanket. I have it folded, so it is 4 times the size shown. This was very simple for me to make, but very time consuming. I used the HDC stitch for the majority of the blanket and then finished it up with a shell border. I'm in the process of making one of these for my baby, but am making it green since I am not aware yet if I am having a boy or a girl.

Necklaces
I started making these back in December of last year. I had quite a few people commenting on how much they liked them and so I plan on getting into making them again soon. I'm working on a large project right now,but that should be finished soon. After that is complete is when I plan on making some more of these.

Book Cover
Baby Hats and Jackets
Here are two projects that I completed at the end of 2011. I made some baby jackets with matching hats. Obviously one was for a boy and one for a girl -- they were also different sizes as well.
Introduction
This is the 3rd time I have started a blog about my craft projects. I didn't go very far with the other two, but I have high hopes this time. They say 3rd time is a charm! I have more time now a days to devote to this, so I'm ready to get back into it.
The name "The Crafty Little Kitty" is pretty much because I love crafts and I love cats. It sounded good to me, so I went for it. Now the background picture to this blog is my cat Tobias. He's the most photogenic of all my cats, so he posed with some yarn for me.
So I better go ahead and get to work on my posts now! I hope you enjoy my blog! If you are a music lover, please check out my other blog and my website. And if you are an animal lover, please check out my Mama's blogs. :-)
