Hair Bow Organizer
Although I wish every great idea was mine, I have to say that they are not. Most the time I see something I like and I personalize it. A lot of people have probably seen the hair bow organizers on Pinterest. I have seen them made with a single large picture frame and ribbons down the back to hand the bows on. Well, I needed something to hang Kat's hair bows on and I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on a picture frame. I also only had a small amount of wall space for this project. I found these 8x10 picture frames at Walmart for $3 each. I bought 3 because I was planning on using two for bows and the one in the middle for hats. I attached plastic hooks to the bottom so that I could hang headbands. The only thing I used to decorate the frames themselves was ribbon and hot glue. I think it turned out pretty good, but my only complaint is that I couldn't figure out how to attach the hats to the ribbon. This made me a little sad seeing as though I crochet hats and wanted to hang them there as well. So, if anyone has a suggestion on how I could attach the hats then please let me know. =)

Baby Shower Decoration
My Baby Shower Picture Holder |
Picture Holder Before |
My baby shower is next Saturday and I've seen what my decorations look like. I saw Pink, Purple, and White polka dots! Well, I had thought of a Valentine's theme myself because i came across a cute little onesie at Target that said "Mommy's Valentine." Since Kat is due 2 days after valentine's, I loved it (it did help that there was a cute little kitten on the onesie too, but we're not going to talk about that right now...haha!). For mine & Dale's wedding reception, I had decorated in red hearts since my color was red. I went digging through our wedding stuff to see what I had. I came across the picture holder with red hearts pictured above. At our wedding reception, this had pictures of Dale & I. I thought it would be cute to put Kat's ultrasound pictures in it. Well, we aren't exactly doing the "Mommy's Valentine" theme after all, but I still liked the idea of the picture holder with Kat's pics in it. So, seeing that I love doing crafty things, I decided to make it match the shower decorations.

My Etsy Shop
The Crafty Little Kitty began as just a thought of mine in June 2012. I
began posting pictures of crafts I made in a blog. At that time, I had
only sold a handful of items that I had crocheted. Family, friends,
and coworkers have been telling me for quite some time that I should
open my own Etsy shop. With the start of a new year, I felt this was
the best time to introduce my new shop: TheCraftyLittleKitty Crochet!

Bandana Dress
I've been wanting to teach myself how to sew for years now. About a year ago, I bought myself a sewing machine. I attempted to thread it a few times and then it sat around to collect dust. Finally, a few months ago I pulled it back out and finally figured out how to thread it. I made a pillow for the rocking chair in Kat's room and then pushed it aside...where it again began to collect dust. I pulled it out again today to attempt to make something again. So for my second attempt at sewing, I decided to try to make a bandana dress because it looked pretty simple. I still have a lot to learn about sewing, but I think it's pretty cute for being one of the first things I've ever made. I hope that this will fit Kat this summer.

Kitty Baby Mobile
So, I've been told that I am a little too obsessed with cats. I guess it's no secret that I love my four legged babies. You have probably also guessed that if was living alone, I probably would be the crazy cat lady. =)
Anyway, since I am decorating Katherine's room with kittens, I needed a cat baby mobile. These are actually very hard to come across. I have searched and searched the internet looking for these. I found probably a total of two. And I wasn't really "in love" with the either one of them. This is when I decided to make something of my own!
I started with two wooden dowels. I sowed pink felt around the dowels and then attached them. I then made myself 4 of what I have been calling my mini-kitties. I used colors that I had already been using in Kat's room. I also used yellow and green yarn, which were not colors in the room, but they went well with project. I made some flowers as the center of the mobile for something else for her to look up at. I then made itty-bitty flowers to come down off the chains the cats were hanging from.
I actually had everything that I used to make this, so I paid absolutely nothing for her mobile! It did take me around 10 hours total to make this, but I think it was well worth it. The picture just doesn't do it justice. I think this is my favorite thing that I have ever made!

Kitties!
I made these kitties this week! I found a very simple crochet pattern and made it. Then I started wondering what the pattern would look like if I only did half of the amount of stitches that it said to do. I am very pleased with the result and am now addicted to making my mini-kitties. Below is a close up of one of my mini-kitties. I have a big project that I am working on where I am going to use these mini-kitties. So check back in a few days to see that! Sometime in the near future, I'm going to try a few other things with these kitties and I even plan on making a bigger kitty by doubling the pattern.

12/2/12 Update -- I took bigger, softer yarn and a bigger crochet hook and created a big stuffed kitty for Kat.
